Pediatric Dentist
Children grow up and change so rapidly. This is why routine dental checkups should begin as early as possible. A dentist should be able to monitor your child’s teeth as soon as they develop. It is recommended your child have their first dental visit within the first six months after their first tooth appears. Your baby’s first dental appointment should be booked no later than their first birthday.
The First Visit
We strongly believe that having your child feel safe and comfortable during their first visit is a key part to helping him/her develop a healthy attitude towards dentistry resulting in better oral hygiene habits. We walk your child through the entire process and educate them on the tools that are used during their visit.
Dentophobia
There are few cases where no matter out tactics, some children still fear the dentist. This is known as dentophobia. One bad visit can lead to adulthood dentophobia. This fear stems more from lack of control in the dental chair versus the idea of possible pain.
If your child has certain fears and concerns about their first dental visit, please vocalize these fears to your dentist so they can accommodate you accordingly.
Dental Anesthesia
With special cases and procedures, we like to implement the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Nitrous oxide is a sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen. It is very safe and effective when used by a professionally trained dentist.
This has been proven to help nervous patients relax when administered via a small mask that fits over your child’s nose.
